Ryan Dunn car crash. Ryan Dunn, one of the stars of the hit show "Jackass," has died in a car accident in Pennsylvania.
Police say the West Chester native was one of two people killed in a single car crash in Chester County early Monday morning. The double fatal crash happened at about 2:38 a.m. on Route 322 near Pottstown Pike in West Goshen Township.

Just before the crash it's believed Ryan Dunn was last seen at Barnaby's in West Chester along with his friend and passenger, 30-year-old Zachary Hartwell of West Chester.

According to the police report obtained by CBS Philly, Ryan was driving his 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 when it crashed into a wooded area and burst into flames. Both Dunn and Hartwell died as a result of injuries they sustained in the crash.

Police believe speed may have been a contributing factor in the accident.

According to the celebrity gossip web site TMZ, just hours before the wreck Dunn had been with friends at a bar in West Chester where he had uploaded a picture of himself with a drink in hand to his Twitter account; however, at this time there is no word if alcohol played a role in the crash.

Ryan Dunn was best known as a daredevil and sidekick of Bam Margera in the popular stunt and prank MTV television series "Jackass," which was filmed in the West Chester region. Various "Jackass" films followed along with other reality shows like "Viva La Bam," "Homewrecker" and several independent films.

MTV responded to news of Dunn's death via Twitter: "We're deeply saddened by the passing of a member of the MTV family, Ryan Dunn. Our hearts and thoughts are with his friends and family."

Dunn recently appeared in the summer premiere of NBC's hit game show "Minute To Win It" with one of his prankster partners Steve-O, playing for a charity.

He had currently served as a host of G4′s new show "Proving Ground," which debuted June 14.

The West Chester-area resident had just celebrated his birthday on June 11. Dunn was 34.

Fans by the dozens showed up at the site of the car crash Monday evening.

"I have met Ryan a bunch of times. He was a great fellow. He would always have a conversation with you. He wouldn't just blow you off like any celebrity would," said Joshua Lizasuain.

His longtime friend and fellow daredevil Johnny Knoxville tweeted "Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan, I love you buddy."

At this point it's not clear if alcohol played a role in the crash.

West Goshen Township police are investigating.
