Norway TV to Broadcast 8,043-Minute Cruise. Coach potatoes in Norway are being offered the unique chance to enjoy a 134-hour fjord cruise without leaving the comfort of their homes.Broadcasting on state television channel NRK 2, the self-proclaimed "longest TV programme in the world" has taken up the challenge to air a complete 8,043-minute cruise along Norway's world famous coastline in real time.
"We believe that there are many in Norway who have a strong connection to the coast and we hope to offer viewers an experience of the voyage," Thomas Hellum, the project's creator said to newspaper Aftenposten.
Nine cameras installed on the MS Nord-Norge capture a voyage that connects Norway's southwest to the arctic north.
The ship sailed Thursday night from Bergen with 314 passengers on board and headed north where the sun never sets in the summer.
On its way, the ship will pass the spectacular Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO heritage site, before reaching Kirkenes near Norway's border with Russia.
